Synopsis (from Goodreads):
Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

Review:

I’m a huge fan of Ms. Armentrout’s work; so when Obsidian came out, I bought it on my kindle, and was hooked from the first page. I didn’t read the synopsis, so I was surprised to find it an alien story. Bonus points for that. I really liked this book, not as much as covenant series but this one definitely has potential.

The main character Katy moves in to a new town for her senior year. *flash* Twilight *flash*. I know, but this book is 100 times better, and much more entertaining. Katy is a book blogger which is so much relatable. I think that’s the best part I like about her because I’ve never read about a blogger in any other book. Otherwise, she is just a normal teenager, nothing out-of-the-world special about her. The main guy, Daemon, is an alien from a light planet known as Lux. I didn’t like him at first, he was just too much of a jerk for me. But as the story progresses, he kind of grew in on me. Both the protagonists’ had a love-hate relationship which is my guilty pleasure. I loved seeing them fight then have sexual tension, and it repeats all over again until they give in to the pleasure. That was amazing and so HOT.

One of the things that I loved in this book was the world building. The author researched well, and executed brilliantly. I loved reading about the alien powers and the fact that they don’t know the extent to their abilities. I’m really excited to see where the story goes from here.

I just had one problem with the book cover. I do not like the couple. The boy was too plain for me, and I just can’t picture him as Daemon. I’m sure he has a cute face but that’s just it. Maybe that’s one of the reason I didn’t like Daemon (I know it sounds stupid). I just wished the author/ publisher would instead have used a green eyed blurry faced man or just something abstract. That is just my opinion.

Obsidian is a beginning to a wonderful series that I know I would love. Anyone who loves paranormal with romance and a lot of heat should read this book.
