      A marriage in name only...

To save her family home, impulsive bookstore owner, Alexa Maria McKenzie, casts a love spell. But she never planned on conjuring up her best friend's older brother—the powerful man who once shattered her heart.

Billionaire Nicholas Ryan doesn’t believe in marriage, but in order to inherit his father’s corporation, he needs a wife and needs one fast. When he discovers his sister’s childhood friend is in dire financial straits, he offers Alexa a bold proposition.

A marriage in name only with certain rules: avoid entanglement. Keep things all business. Do not fall in love. The arrangement is only for a year so the rules shouldn’t be that hard to follow, right?

Except fate has a way of upsetting the best-laid plans…

      Review:

I've been hearing so many great things about this series that I had to pick it up, and find out what the buzz is about. I knew that The Marriage Bargain wasn't the best in the lot, so I was sort of prepared for an average read but what I got was highly entertaining. The story is not the most original, but I still loved it. The best part about The Marriage Bargain that drew me in initially was Jennifer Probst's beautiful writing. It was simple, to the point, and flowed naturally. She made it so easy relate to characters, empathize with their feelings, and in simple words, she made me a fan of the series.

Alexa wanted a man with money STAT, and Nick wanted a wife without drama within a week. Solution: Marriage of Convenience. I don't know why I'm attracted to the whole arrange/convinient marriages, they are so fun & exciting to read, not to mention full of surprises. Nick & Alexa weren't strangers though, they had been childhood friends but Nick was more brotherly towards Alexa then. Now all grown up and married, they have a lot of sexual tension and playful chemistry between them. Some of their moments were so hilarious especially the whole dog scene.  Alexa was an independent woman, and Nick was controlling man, but both of them fit perfectly together. And that ending was just precious, a little cliched, nevertheless, I loved it.

The only thing that did disappoint me a teeny bit was that the good stuff took too long to happen. I was yelling at them each time to just do it, but off-course someone had to interrupt every time. It did frustrate me at time but the end result was worth the wait, so no complaining really.

I'm so glad I read this book, and even more happy to have the next two books in hand so I can dig in right away. The Marriage Bargain seem like a been-there-done-that book but if you read it, you'll see the difference. I can easily see it as one of the hit romantic comedies that I enjoy. If you like fated or coincidental relationships, you should definitely give it book a try. It is well worth your time and money.

      2. I have not read this one, so thank you for your review. While I hate waiting for the good parts to start, it sounds like the payoff was worth it. I will have to give this series a try. I look forward to hearing what you think of the next installment.

      3. Good story and funny! Had a smile on my face throughout and read in one evening.

I rated as a four because I thought the purchase price was a bit expensive in comparison to other books of the same quality.
