Feature & Follow (24)

February 28, 2013

Feature & Follow Friday is a weekly blog hop hosted by
Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read.

Q: Confess your blogger sins! Is there anything as a newbie blogger that you've done, that as you've gained more experience you were like -- oops?

My biggest newbie oops was requesting a bunch of books from Netgalley and not reviewing them. At the time they sounded great, but now I have a pile of random books that I'm never going to read, and I hate looking at the difference in read/unread numbers.

What were your newbie oops?

  1. I am a newbie and here are the oopses I'm CURRENTLY in.

Signing up for TOO many review blog tours...

I don't want to say more. I just know I have a dead line to read a whole lotta books...

  2. I know what you mean. Right now I am trying to stop my compulsion to request more books on NetGalley!

  4. I have a netgalley problem too. I'm trying to fix my backlog before I request more but I don't have the willpower not to hit that request button.

  5. Luckily I don't have that problem with NetGalley. There is one book I really want to request, but the publisher wants a significant number of followers (boo!) so I may have to pass on it or wait another month or two and see if I can still request it. What I can't say no to are member review giveaways. I have a few I'm sitting on and need to read them.

  6. Haha!! Absolutely true! I stopped using Netgalley altogether because of the amount of books I have in my TBR pile and the stressful datelines.

    Old follower stopping by! :)

  7. Like you and a lot of other bloggers I did the very same thing! My problem is I want to read the books I acquired from Netgalley but I have soo many upcoming books tours that I can't find the time to review anything else. I've learned my lesson and in the next months I'm going to review everything sitting in my TBR pile :)

You have a lovely blog, I especially love the colors!

  9. It's so easy to request books from Netgalley, and then never get around to reading them. I try to control myself, but sometimes I get a little crazy with the requesting.

  10. Great answer. It took me awhile to be more careful about freebies and netgalley books and review requests. Just because they are available, doesn't mean I REALLY want to read them!

  11. Oh, I am still guilty of that! It's like being in a candy store as a kid on Netgalley. I always think I'm going to be awesome that month and read all the books I request, but it never happens. :)

  13. I too got quite addicted to the newness of Netgalley and the fact I was getting approved for books. I probably have a minimum of 20 unread books from there. And just not the desire or the time to read most of them now.

  14. Love your blog design. My TBR pile is huge right now so I can understand how awkward it must be to have more unread than read. Sucks that you have ones you wont ever read- maybe take them down to a book exchange or something?

New follower here. I hope you have a great Friday!

  15. We really should start a NetGalley anonymous program. LOL. I am addicted, but I need to stop because the books are piling up and there are not nearly enough reading hours in the day!

  16. I definitely know what you mean about Netgalley. I used to do that, now I only request books that I know I will end up reading. I try to balance my reading by reading library books a few a week and then a ARC once a week. That way I don't overload myself and get behind on other things too. Hope you have been having a good week so far.

  17. I just feel so bad when I am unable to read and review books that we've accepted in time! It's literally that 'oh ground, please bury me' feeling! Great answer, Aman! :)

Thanks for stopping by my F&FF earlier.

Happy reading and have a great weekend! :)

  18. I luckily am picky about the books I read so my netgally number isnt too bad! My problem is accepting authors requests for reviews.
