Finally, the highly anticipated follow-up to the New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster. Can you love someone too much?
Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.

In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. But just when he thinks he is invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides. In Beautiful Disaster, Abby had her say. Now it’s time to see the story through Travis’s eyes.

Note: You should read Beautiful Disaster first if you haven't already, but you don't need to re-read BD just to freshen up your memories. It's really not needed. Now on to the review.

Review:

*Sigh* Walking Disaster was everything I'd hoped for. I was already familiar with Travis and Abby's emotionally messed up yet equally satisfying journey, so that was not my main focus going into Walking Disaster. I wanted to know more about Travis, about what he did besides obsessing over Abby 24/7, about his relationship with his family, about his anger issues, but mostly I wanted to know if Travis was really a good person at heart. Even if he said mean things at times or punched someone for petty issues, I wanted to confirm for myself that he didn't do it intentionally and learned from his mistakes and hopefully grew up to be a better person. (Which he did! Read the epilogue for that.)

I loved Walking Disaster. I loved that we got to know more about Travis's brothers; Trenton is one-of-a-kind and I can't wait to read his book. Along with that, there were a lot of Travis & Shep moments and until now I didn't realize how much Travis depended on Shep to keep him in line and if not for Shep, Travis would for sure be in prison. I won't say that Travis is the best boyfriend ever or I would love to be with him because he is a little too much for me, but I love his determination and willingness to be a better person for Abby. That's shows in this book and that is exactly what makes me love him. He know he's a fucked up person, he's not blinded by any misconception, but still he wants to be the best person for Abby and I love that.

Besides all the good things, I feel like Walking Disaster was not a romance story. When I read Beautiful Disaster, I felt every emotion, I felt Abby & Travis's love for each other, and I knew that would make a perfect couple just by seeing how good they were together, but in Walking Disaster, I didn't feel any of that. It was more of a retelling than showing, there weren't enough Abby & Travis private moments. Most of the time it was either them fighting or them being apart and I didn't like that. That is why I couldn't give it a perfect rating.

Overall, Walking Disaster was definitely worth the wait. I loved it! Travis was so so good and seeing him vulnerable broke my heart and made me fall for him all over again. I would prefer to read Abby's POV but Travis's was special and I don't regret it one bit. Not to mentioned it had THE BEST Epilogue I've ever read. Seriously, read it just for that. For all those people who thought Travis was a disaster waiting to happen should read this book, it proves that people grow up and change. Walking Disaster is a must read and I highly recommend you to give this NA a try. It is without a doubt my unforgettable read.

PS: I have a question. I don't think it was mentioned in the book or maybe I missed it, but do you know the ages of Thomas, Taylor, Tyler and Trenton?

  2. Beautiful Disaster has been on my radar for sometime, but the mixed reviews have really messed with my head, that I never know when or if I should give it a go or not. But the last few days I have read some great reviews for Walking Disaster, that I'm tempted all over again to give the first book a try soon! I'm glad Walking Disaster lived up to your expectations Aman! Lovely review! :)

  3. Aman! I already read your review on Goodreads and commented there, but I just couldn't resist coming and leaving a comment here too. Well, I find it impossible to resist anything Travis, but that's another thing altogether! ;) The epilogue was truly THE best! I love your review! :D

  5. Oh! I wasn't a huge fan of this one, but I loved seeing how Travis was so much more than how he was depicted in BD!

    Great review!!

    1. True! Throughout the story he was so vulnerable and we don't see that in BD.
