She's a mortal with dark powers...

After a tragic accident scarred her body and destroyed her dreams, Leila never imagined that the worst was still to come: terrifying powers that let her channel electricity and learn a person's darkest secrets through a single touch. Leila is doomed to a life of solitude...until creatures of the night kidnap her, forcing her to reach out with a telepathic distress call to the world's most infamous vampire...

He's the Prince of Night...

Vlad Tepesh inspired the greatest vampire legend of all—but whatever you do, don't call him Dracula. Vlad's ability to control fire makes him one of the most feared vampires in existence, but his enemies have found a new weapon against him—a beautiful mortal with powers to match his own. When Vlad and Leila meet, however, passion ignites between them, threatening to consume them both. It will take everything that they are to stop an enemy intent on bringing them down in flames.

Jeaniene Frost can do no wrong! Night Huntress series is by far The Best Adult PNR/UF series I've ever read, along with Kresley Cole's Immortal After Dark. Cat and Bones are the Brangelina of Urban Fantasy, there is no one like them,  and when I heard that Jeaniene was writing a spin-off with Vlad as a lead, I couldn't be more happier. It was literally dream come true, that is one thing I've always rooted for and Once Burned did complete justice to his character.

Vlad Tepesh, as many of you are familiar with, is the ever-popular Dracula. Yes, I have a crush on a ruthless vampire. What's new? Don't be irked by it. Vlad is very sarcastic, playful and a cocky person but he is also the most powerful and knowledgeable character in the Night Huntress world. Well there is Mencheres, but I would say they are more neck to neck in terms of power and strength. Vlad is know for his pyrokinetic ability, he can burn anyone into ashes with the snap of his fingers. That and his mind reading skills comes in handy when he meets Leila. Now Leila has the most unique powers ever, she can touch an object and can tell about it's owner and their location in the past, present or future. Night Prince is a very high fantasy series, so you need to have a really good imagination to fully enjoy it. I loved it! I loved getting to know Vlad on a one on one basis and I loved seeing him fall in love. Leila is very special and I can't wait to read the next book that is coming out in few days.

Once Burned is a story full of action, adventure and a lot of entertainment. We learnt a lot of new things about the Night Huntress world and we also get a cameo of all the previous character. I loved the scene where Leila saw Bones for the first time, it was simply hilarious and I couldn't help but agree with her reaction. Jeaniene Frost is a must read author for me, her work is magic, it always gets better with the next book. Night Prince series can be read as a standalone but it is so much better if you treat it as a spin-off and follow the order starting with reading Night Huntress series. If you are a paranormal /fantasy junkie, then you need to read this series. You won't regret it!

  1. Great review! I love Jeaniene Frost. I still have to read One Grave At A Time, so I can't read this one yet. :)

    1. One Grave at a time was really good. You are going to love it :)

  2. I LOVE Jeaniene Frost! I SO agree with with about Cat and Bones being the Brangelina of UF. Hers was one of the series which got me hooked on paranormal romance. Vlad was all that I wanted him to be and Leila was a nice character as well. Can't wait for twice tempted! great review Aman! :)
