it's almost

time for war.

Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.

She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.

Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.

In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam's life.

 Review:

Oh Gosh. I'm so torn between my feelings. A part of me wants to give Unravel Me 5 stars just because we get to know a different side of Warner, but I can't go through with it because I didn't like the first half of the book at all. It was tortures to read, nothing happened, well besides major character changes with no explanation. What made it bearable was the writing. Tahereh Mafi has a gift, her writing is hypnotic and so captivating that you'd want to devour the book in one sitting (which I didn't because it was really long, but you get my point). The story picks up when Warner enters halfway and after that, there was no complaining, only swooning.

Juliette and Adam are settled in the Omega Point and are training to make their powers more controllable. I don't know what happened with Adam between Shatter Me and Unravel Me but his character changed. He was very weird and uncertain towards Juliette and kept secrets from her which I didn't like. I get Adam, I get why he acted that way but I feel like he was given a backseat in Unravel Me so that Warner could shine. I have no problem with that. In fact, I fell in love with Warner in a way I never expected. He is the perfect representation of Don't Judge the Book by it's Cover. He was powerful, confident, determined, ruthless yet he was so charming, beautiful and kind towards people he cared about. I'm Team Warner for sure.

I like where the story is heading. The Reestablishment and the Omega Point have had it each other and they are heading towards war which was expected. I guess the ultimate showdown will take place in the next book, and I'm really looking forward to all the gifted people coming together and using their powers to the fullest. That should be exciting. As for secondary characters, I liked Kenji, he was the entertainer of this book and kept the scenes light and funny even if the situation demanded seriousness. But I wasn't a fan of Castle. I just get a bad vibe from him and I don't like the way he makes his people fight just for a sacrifice. It smells fishy.

Unravel Me is a good continuation of Shatter Me. The way I was ranting on goodreads during the first half, I'm happy to say that the curse of second book didn't hit Unravel Me. Warner was a saving grace for this book and just by him opening up made this story so much more stronger than it would have been. On top of it, Juliette matured a lot, she is more controlled and focused than before, and I can't wait to see how she would handle her feelings in the next book. Shatter Me series is recommended to readers who enjoy dystopian setting with a great cast of characters and an innovative storyline. I'm rooting for Warner and so should Juliette!

  1. I totally agree with you! I don't know what happened to the boy we;d met in the first book! Adam totally changed thus making way for Warner to take over completely. Kenji was awesome :) and Tahereh does have an amazing writing style. great review Aman :)

    1. YAY for Warner! I can't believe I hated him in the first book but now I just want Warner to have a happy ending whether it's with Juliette or not.

  2. I adore your blog & just started following (via email)! :) I still need to read this sequel, I love how you said that Juliette matured, because one of my biggest fears with a series is that the characters won't grow enough. I'm glad there's more Kenji too, he had some really funny lines in Shatter Me. :) Great review! ~ Alice @ Alice in Readerland

    1. Juliette did mature but the best part was getting to know a different Warner. Be warned. You'll fall hard to him!
      Thanks for following :)

  3. OMG! I still haven't read this series which is like 'AHHHHHHHHHH' *facepalms* I mean I need to meet Warner, he sounds like the perfect character. I've heard so much about these books, Tahereh shows a different concept that I haven't read before! Lovely review, Aman.

  4. I also loved both the Warner and the writing in Unravel Me ;) I thought it was great to see another side of him, especially since I never understood the fascination with him before. Also, I agree with you about not liking Castle so much. Amazing review!

    1. Yeah. I think Castle will come out with some horrid past. I don't know, maybe he's Anderson's brother. You never know!
      Thanks!

  5. Totally agree with you on this one. Theres just something so compelling about Tahereh Mafis writing its amazing. Also, the beginning as you said was so sloooww it was like *shakes head* And Adam was so ANNOYING jeesh he just kept so many secrets to the point where I wanted to shake some sense into him. Oh, and then theres Warner. WARNERWARNERWARNER (whos actual name may very well be one of the names that has caused the most swooning in me) In Shatter Me I hated him now? I LOVE HIM. Great review! :)
