Fate isn’t something to mess with… and now, neither is Alex.

Alex has always feared two things: losing herself in the Awakening and being placed on the Elixir. But love has always been stronger than Fate, and Aiden St. Delphi is willing to make war on the gods—and Alex herself—to bring her back.

The gods have killed thousands and could destroy entire cities in their quest to stop Seth from taking Alex’s power and becoming the all-powerful God Killer. But breaking Alex’s connection to Seth isn’t the only problem. There are a few pesky little loopholes in the whole “an Apollyon can’t be killed” theory, and the only person who might know how to stop the destruction has been dead for centuries.

Finding their way past the barriers that guard the Underworld, searching for one soul among countless millions, and then somehow returning will be hard enough. Alex might be able to keep Seth from becoming the God Killer… or she might become the God Killer herself.
Review:

With a 4th book in the Covenant series named Apollyon, you'd think we'll get plenty of Seth and his undeniable charm but NO. There was no Seth in this book, well yeah except 2 or 3 "glimpses", but damn. Seriously?!? No freaking Seth! I was so mad and disappointed. Given that I'm not on his team and I hated what he did in Deity but come-on, he is a true entertainer and I love reading about him. He is one bad boy that I love to hate or at times only love with all my heart. Apollyon made me realize his worth in this series and I will say that Covenant series is nothing special without Seth. He brings on that extra oomph and energy that makes all the difference between a good book and a fan-fucking-tastic book. And Apollyon was a good book.

Now that my Seth hangover is out of the way, Apollyon was an eventful read. It starts off right after Elixir and it is important for you to read that novella from Aiden's POV. Alex has awakened and is practically a Seth slave on an Apollyon high, she doesn't think straight and wants to kill everyone including Aiden. Honestly, I loved Evil Alex. Her thoughts were bad but her inner monologue was hilarious. Though I do feel bad for Aiden, seeing your loved one being that vicious and under someone's influence must have been horribly hard for him but kudos to Aiden for sticking up with Alex and believing in her. It did pay off and I loved watching it unravel. Aiden finally showed his naughty side in Apollyon! I have always termed him as a goody two shoes and rule follower but he proved me wrong in this installment. He was open with his relationship with Alex and took so many unwanted risks for her and not to mention the bedroom scenes. Yes, there were lots of heated moments and non-graphic sexual scenes which I obviously enjoyed reading.

Other than that, I loved that Apollyon was heavy on Mythology. We met numerous god and goddess and learnt about their purpose/opinion on the war. My favorite part was the ending where Seth's lineage was revealed. Damn! It was so unimaginable and shocking that I still haven't come to term with it. Well done, Armentrout! That part was done brilliantly and I wouldn't have expected anything else. The scene that touched me the most was the little background we learn about Seth, of how he was treated as a kid and what kind of environment he grew up in and all I have to say is that I get him. I totally understand his reasons to be with Lucien and no matter how wrong they are, I still love him. There is hope for Seth and I wish he recovers from Lucien's fakeness and get better & wiser. I will always love you, Seth.

Overall, Apollyon was an action-packed adventure read and I really liked it. The writing was easy and addictive. The storyline was engaging and entertaining. The characters were true to themselves yet showed immense growth (except Seth who wasn't even present *sad face*). Deacon is still my favorite in the gang though I loved Apollo too. All in all, do read Covenant series if you're a fan of Greek Mythology and forbidden love. This is my favorite JLA series and I can't wait to read Sentinel. Simply because it will have Seth in it ;)

  1. Well, they say absence makes the heart grow fonder and that about sums up your feelings for Seth in Apollyon. I know how much you love this series, Aman but sadly, I haven't read it or even thought of beginning it yet. *hides* But honestly, I get so scared to admit that I'm not very fond of JLA! *hides even deeper* :P
I do like reading mythology and seeing as this one is heavy on it, it's actually a positive aspect. So you are Team Aiden? People love him so much (from what I've seen and read)! Awesome review and I hope you get to more of Seth in the next book!

    1. That is such a true statement. I missed Seth so much. Well, I'm Team Aiden when it comes to Alex but that doesn't even compare to how big of a fan I'm of Seth. I'm really hoping he gets a spin off or something.
You don't like JLA! *gasps* What! *takes a deep breath* That's okay, can't love everyone, right?

  2. Everyone I know seems to love Aiden, so it's nice to know that you prefer Seth, I have no clue as to what he may have done to annoy people in the previous book, as I haven't yet started this series, I know epic fail on my part. But you have me curious to give this series a try soon! Lovely review Aman! :)

    1. I like Aiden too but only when hes with Alex. They are cute together. But Seth is a whole another story. He did do something unforgivable in Deity but I love his character. He's a star and yes, you should read this series soon. It is sooo worth it!
      Thanks :)

  4. If you love YA but haven't started this series, what are you waiting for? JLA writes the best YA. If you've read the rest, then run to get Apollyon as soon as you can!
