"You have to kill him." Imprisoned in the heart of a secret military base, Em has nothing except the voice of the boy in the cell next door and the list of instructions she finds taped inside the drain.

Only Em can complete the final instruction. She’s tried everything to prevent the creation of a time machine that will tear the world apart. She holds the proof: a list she has never seen before, written in her own hand. Each failed attempt in the past has led her to the same terrible present—imprisoned and tortured by a sadistic man called the doctor while war rages outside.

Marina has loved her best friend James since the day he moved next door when they were children. A gorgeous, introverted science prodigy from one of America’s most famous families, James finally seems to be seeing Marina in a new way, too. But on one disastrous night, James’s life crumbles apart, and with it, Marina’s hopes for their future. Now someone is trying to kill him. Marina will protect James, no matter what. Even if it means opening her eyes to a truth so terrible that she may not survive it. At least not as the girl she once was.

All Our Yesterdays is a wrenching, brilliantly plotted story of fierce love, unthinkable sacrifice, and the infinite implications of our every choice.
Review:

WOW! I don't know whether to applaud at the author's highly imaginative and innovative time travel world or critique it, because I can go either ways. This book made me THINK and I can't remember the last time that happened! I loved Cristin Terrill's debut novel, it was a mind-blowingly read. There were so many things that made me go WTF, numerous incidents that took a me a while longer to understand, various explanations that went against everything I've been taught, but that is particular what makes All Our Yesterdays "the best in it's genre" thrilling read.

Em is a girl in a cell who is tortured, beaten and interrogated routinely for the last 4 months because of some information she's withholding. The world outside is a mess due to invention of a time machine and the only way Em can undo all the wrong-doings done by the doctor is if she travels back in time and stop it's development altogether. Em was a very driven girl, I loved that she risked her future life in order to save her past self from the torture. I know it sounds very confusing, but the author did a tremendous job at transitioning the time and the pov's, so it's not too hard to grasp the story. There are two guys who are important besides Em, and I won't disclose their identities, but I have to say that one in particular was in my hate list. It didn't matter if it was past or present, I hated that person. He was very obsessive and aggravating, and no matter how hard I tries to tolerate him, my efforts were wasted because of his nature. But the other one made it all better. Oh, how much I loved him? From the outside, he appeared as a goofy person who doesn't take anything seriously, but it's obvious he's much more than that. Plus, his love for Em so pure and genuine that it left no grounds for a love triangle.

All Our Yesterdays started as a time travel book but ended up being a more emotional story about love and friendship. It raised questions about right and wrong that left me dumbstruck. There were many times when I labelled Em as a weak character--I wanted her to finish her job and not think too much about it--but I did empathize with her at the end of the day, so I guess that makes it alright. Like I said before, I could go either ways with the character, story or the world building, I could point out the good things and I could easily point out the equally bad (per se unbelievable) things, but the fact that I enjoyed reading this book so much makes it a definite hit in my book. I highly recommend All Our Yesterdays to fans of time travel, mystery and romance. You are in for a great ride.
