Blog Tour (Excerpt + Giveaway): Wild by Alex Mallory

July 2, 2014

Hey Everyone! Today I'm hosting the Wild Blog Tour organized by The Fantastic Flying Book Club and before anything else, first I have to say something about the book and my experience.

I read Wild last week and found it to be very interesting, but the slow pacing really ruined my mood and made me give it a 2.5 stars, but since then, I've been thinking more about this book, the ending really stuck with me and made me fall in love with Cade's story. I love that the author stuck true to his personality and didn't force him into any unrealistic transformation. Plus, there's a room for a sequel that might delve more into Cade's lifestyle and I'm very looking forward to reading that! In another words, the ending totally changed the game for me and with a few editing tweaks here and there, I think this book could easily have been a 5 star read, but I finally ended up giving 4 stars. Right now I'm going to share an excerpt with you guys, but if you want to read my review, you can check out Goodreads.

The forest is full of secrets, and no one understands that better than Cade. Foraging, hunting, surviving— that’s all he knows. Alone for years, Cade believes he’s the sole survivor. At least, until he catches a glimpse of a beautiful stranger…

Dara expected to find natural wonders when she set off for a spring break camping trip. Instead, she discovers a primitive boy— he’s stealthy and handsome and he might be following her. Intrigued, Dara seeks him out and sets a catastrophe in motion.

Thrust back into society, Cade struggles with the realization that the life he knew was a lie. But he’s not the only one. Trying to explain life in a normal town leaves Dara questioning it.

As the media swarm and the police close in, Dara and Cade risk everything to get closer. But will the truth about Cade’s past tear them apart?

A YA Tarzan retelling.

  1. It's funny how you originally didn't love this one that much, but changed your mind later. This has happened to me twice: Cinder and Anna & the French Kiss :D This one sounds very mysterious and intriguing! Thanks for sharig the excerpt, Aman :) (Also, I had no idea this was a Tarzan retelling. Awesome ;))

  2. Okay I gave this a bit of thought...shelter can be found in a cave or some natural source so I took that out...the last two food and water mean nothing if you can't cook/purify it so...fire is the most important skill in my book...Is there a right or wrong answer to this...? o.o;

  3. I love it when you read a book and it stays with you for long. It can be frustrating too, but yeah :) I'm glad you enjoyed Cade's story. It sounds really interesting and I like the excerpt but that slow pacing is not something I need right now. Great post, Aman :)
